Nintendo’s president has pledged further support for the Nintendo 3DS over the next few years while continuing to focus on bringing great titles to the company’s new home console, the Nintendo Switch.

The 3DS had a fruitful 2017 with titles like Metroid: Samus Returns, Pokémon Ultra Sun and Moon, and Hey! Pikmin being released for the system. As for 2018, however, only a few games have been revealed—and most of them have been ports or remakes of previous titles, such as Luigi’s Mansion and Captain Toad.

With Nintendo’s main focus on the Switch, many fans fear that the 3DS is a system on the verge of dying out as the company looks to consolidate its efforts elsewhere. Nintendo’s president, Tatsumi Kimishima, has plans to alleviate those concerns, however.

In the latest financial results briefing after Kimishima announced he was set to step down in June, Nintendo’s president spoke about the 3DS and how the company will be supporting current and future owners of the system in 2019 and beyond.

“In addition to the titles currently on sale, we have announced the coming release of the titles shown here,” Kimishima said. “We are even preparing new software for release in 2019 and beyond. Our plan is to continue maintaining this business by taking advantage of new titles like these.”

Kimishima also confirmed that all 3DS systems had sold 72 million units since being released in 2011. In comparison, the Nintendo Switch sold over 17 million units worldwide this year.
