Universal Studios Orlando could soon be getting a major new addition to the park by 2020, with a Pokémon-themed area currently in the works, according to a report by WFTV9.

The popular Nintendo-owned franchise would be added to the KidZone section of the park alongside the Woody Woodpecker and Barney attractions. The scale of the area, as well as what would be available to fans, hasn’t been revealed.

The area was originally going to have a Mario Kart and Donkey Kong roller-coaster added, however, before Universal Studios decided to move the attractions to a different park.

If the report is true, this would be the second Pokémon theme park in the history of the franchise. The first part, called Pokémon The Park 2005, was a temporary theme park in Nagoya, Japan that launched from March to September 2005.

The theme park was free to enter and had 12 Pokemon-themed attractions as well as special Pokémon Centre-like stores, and cafes. After the park closed in Japan, all the attractions moves to Taiwan, where it was open from June to September 2006.

Fans will need to wait some time to ride on new Pokemon-themed attractions, however. A Fast and Furious attraction is currently slated to come to Orlando sometime this year while a Harry Potter-themed roller-coaster is coming in 2019, so work will not begin on the Pokémon attractions until after these two big projects have been completed.
