Insomniac Games via Facebook clarified Spider-Man PS4 won’t feature any microtransactions. The developer also defended their decision to include a special Suit as pre-order bonus unlocks.
Insomniac Games has stated multiple times that the upcoming Spider-Man title for PlayStation 4 won’t be featuring any kind of microtransactions, but yesterday’s announcement of pre-order bonus has indeed reignited controversy on this aspect.
We know it’s not basically the same thing, but some users have pointed at the fact that this content – such as skins for Spidey – will be only coming as part of a pre-order campaign while in the past similar stuff was available for unlock throughout gameplay.
Answering to a similar claim, Insomniac Games has provided his response on Facebook about the fact that “no content is being kept out of the game. There is plenty more to [be] unlocked beyond the pre-order unlocks. No microtransactions.”
It is worth remembering that pre-order bonus are going to feature a Spidey-Suit Pack with Spider-Punk, as well as “a couple suits we will reveal this summer”, the Spider-Drone gadget, a PSN avatar, an original PS4 theme designed by renowned comic book artist Adi Granov and “extra skill points to unlock faster”.
Post-launch, the developer will also be supporting Spider-Man for PlayStation 4 with a three chapter episodic series called “The City That Never Sleeps” with new villains, characters, and skins. It’s coming as a part of the Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Edition offerings.
You can see all the pre-order content in action in the quick gameplay trailer below. Spider-Man is releasing on September 7.
