It looks like Nintendo might actually be working on a Nintendo 64 Classic edition, in the style of the recently announced PlayStation Classic and, of course, the NES and SNES re-releases from Nintendo.
Nintendo had registered a trademark last year in Europe for the Nintendo 64 controller and, according to Business Insider, the trademark has been accepted only on August 30, 2018.
Interestingly, among the ‘papers’ for the trademark, we can find the logo of controller which is very, very similar to the controllers found on the boxes of NES and SNES Mini (the white silhouette on the top).
We don’t know whether we’re about to see an announcement for a Nintendo 64 Classic edition, but sure enough the miniaturized console is in the cards for the Japanese platform holder and will be released sooner or later.
Sony is launching its PlayStation Classic on December 3, 2018 and that’s most probably going to be the only ‘mini’ platform we’re getting this year, but by next year it’ll be the second year we won’t receive a Nintendo classic console.
So, it appears to be about time, in 2019, to see such a news from the console maker. Is it going to be Nintendo 64, or GameBoy classic, or which one would you prefer?
