Here’s what you need to evolve Tyrogue in Pokémon Sword and Shield
In Pokémon Sword and Shield, many of the Pokémon have different requirements to evolve them. Some require certain items or need to level up during a specific time of the day. Tyrogue, the Fighting-type Pokémon, has some unique requirements, and three different evolutions: Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, and Hitmonchan.
First and foremost, you need to capture a Tyrogue. It won’t take you too long because you can encounter it early in the game. The two notable locations you can find one are both in the Wild Area, the Rolling Fields, and South lake Miloch. A Tyrogue will show up during any weather condition.
After you capture your Tyrogue, you’ll want to check out the Pokémon’s stats to see what track it’s headed when it levels up. Unlike other Pokémon, a Tyrogue evolves into one of its three evolutions based on its stats.
- If the attack is higher than its defense, it becomes a Hitmonlee
- If the attack is lower than its defense, it becomes a Hitmonchan
- If the attack and defense are equal to each other, it becomes a Hitmontop
Tyrogue evolves after level 20, so you have until then to influence the differences. There are several ways you can go about modifying their stats, such as using the feathers you find on the bridge on Route 5 shortly after you beat the first Gym Leader, Milo.
To increase Tyrogue’s attack, you need the Muscle Feather. To improve its defense, you need the Resist Feather.
When you capture the Tyrogue, check out its summary page and go to the Pokémon’s statistic section, which should be the second choice while examining the Pokémon. It’ll have a graph detailing its various statistics. When you’re here, click the “X” button on your switch, and you should see a yellow ring replace the usual statistics. This information details how a Pokémon progresses and becomes stronger whenever it levels up.
If the Torgue’s statistics advance in the direction for attack or defense that you want it to, you don’t need to worry about the feathers. However, if you wish to have a Hitmontop, you’ll want to use the feathers to keep those numbers aligned together.
