The perils in Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey goes beyond the wild animals. You need to worry about bleeding, getting ill, poisonous snakes, and broken bones. Many things can harm or kill members of your clan. Broken bones, given the semi-arboreal nature of our ancestors, are quite commonplace in the game. A lot of that has to do with the odd climbing and leaping controls.

When leaping from a tree and you miss your branch, you now have a broken arm. Or perhaps you’ve found a strange hominid that you want to invite to your clan, but they have a broken limb. How do you help them? Game Revolution offers more solutions than my basic Khat leaves as an answer. You have several options to help mend a broken limb.

Khat Leaves

Khat leaves are the red leaves on the small bushes. From a distance, and potentially depending on your graphics settings, they might appear like red berries. These can assist in healing your fractures. They also increase your cold resistance if you eat it without an injury.

Game Revolution mentions that they can be ground to increase their potency. Ground Khat leaves will heal broken bones in one dose.

Horsetail

These are easier to find than Khat leaves but offer a similar, reduced effect. You can find these plants, like their modern counterpart, near the edges of watering holes. You do need to eat more of these than you would Khat leaves, due to their reduced potency.

Like Khat leaves, if eaten without injury, they provide a brief buff to prevent fractures from a hard fall.

Waiting

Unlike bleeding, broken bones heal on their own. It does reduce your mobility for some time, though.

Broken bones are an inevitable part of the game, both from a realistic, immersive perspective and because the controls are sometimes a little finicky while swinging through the trees. Broken bones are annoying, but you can quickly deal with them.
