At its very best, Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord is a massive sandbox for you to play in. This means you can do whatever you like in your single-player campaign. You can aggravate and annoy NPCs, or you can help them. You can be a force for good, or try to become a tyrant. Or, you can cheat.
How to cheat in Bannerlord
To use cheat codes in your singleplayer campaign, you will need to do the following:
- Go to your Documents folder and open up Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord’s folder
- Open the Configs folder
- Open “engine_config.txt”
- 14 lines down, you will find “cheat_mode = 0”, change the value to 1.
Now, there is a list of cheats doing the rounds for the game, but the only one that worked for us is using Ctrl + Left Click to transport around the map. We also noticed some slow down in menus when the cheat was activated in the config file.
We assume for now that the list of cheats currently doing the rounds is older cheats from previous games, and people think that they will work. Or else we are doing something wrong, which doesn’t seem likely given that the first cheat works for us.
Cheats are mostly debugging tools that some developers choose to leave in the game, so we imagine there are plenty of active cheats for the game, it is just a matter of discovering what the commands are.
We will continue to look into the issue and will update this article when we get to the bottom of it.
Update:
So far the following cheats have all been confirmed to work in our games:
- Ctrl + Left Click – Teleports you on the world map
- Ctrl + H – heals you
- CTRL+Shift+H – heals your horse
- Ctrl+F4 – Knock targeted enemy unconscious
- Ctrl+Shift+F4 – Knock all enemies unconscious
