What is True Vault Hunter Mode and why is that you want to get there as soon as possible?
When you’ve beaten Borderlands 3, you’re going to find yourself where do you go from here. Should try out the game one more time as a brand new character? While that option is appealing, there’s another mode available to players who want to go through the game again: True Vault Hunter Mode (TVHM). In TVHM you’re going through the game again with your character who beat it and play through on a greater difficulty.
What is True Vault Hunter Mode in Borderlands 3?
You can only unlock this mode if you’ve beaten the game. Before that, you have to choose from the two starting settings. When you decide to start a new game on TVHM, you’re going to retain all of the equipment, guns, levels, and skills of the character you’re taking into the next game. As many have imagined, it’s Borderlands’ way of doing a New Game Plus. The critical difference with TVHM is that the enemies are going to be far stronger and diverse than when you first played the game.
The game is going to ramp up the difficulty by a considerable amount and make things far more difficult for you this time around to compensate for the power of the Vault Hunter you’re taking into TVHM. However, the plus side to this is that you’re going to run across far better loot than you would have in the other standard game modes. You’re going to gain better loot, more experience points, and you’re going to find that those big numbers you have at the start of a TVHM run are going to grow even more significant. Things get crazy in this mode, so make sure you bring your best equipment.
To make this even more complicated, when you reach your ship, Sanctuary, you’re going to have access to Mayhem Mode. This new mode is going to ramp up the difficulty even further by making enemies more challenging to fight. However, the benefits and bonuses you get for activating this game mode also increase. We wrote up a break down of what this mode is going to look like, so look through it and see if it’s going to be the right fit for you.
These two elements add even more variety and flavor to the end game content in Borderlands 3. If the developers can reliably keep up with the demand of their fans by releasing new updates and events to do when they reach the end of the game, many are going to find it challenging to pull away from this maddening adventure.
