How Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint Connect

Ubisoft has come out and shared their plans for their next entry in the Ghost Recon series, Breakpoint. It’s going to take place on a remote island where players are going to face off hostile NPCs, are forced to survive using limited resources, and have to face off a fearsome villain who was once a Ghost, like they are. There’s plenty to get excited about in this game; however, some players may wonder, how do the two entries, Wildlands and Breakpoint connect? Ubisoft attempted to explain this explanation in the latest operation going on right in Ghost Recon Wildlands, and we’ll break down how it works.

Ghost Recon Wildlands and Breakpoint Connection

Operation Oracle

On May 2, Ghost Recon Wildlands introduced Operation Oracle, a mission where a simple rescue mission goes awry. The mission stars Cole D. Walker, played by Netflix’s The Punisher Jon Bernthal, who works with players during the operation to learn about Skell Tech. Skell Technology is a tech company that specializes in military asset technology. Players have seen the name a handful of times in Wildlands, and it was notably useful during Operation Silent Spade where they assisted the team to use optical camouflage.

Walker learns that Skell Technology’s drones helped kill his brothers-in-arms. Learning the truth does not sit well with him, which is where we find him a couple of years later on the remote island called Auroa. It’s the headquarters of Skell Technology, and Walker has taken control of it with his group of Wolves. That’s fast-forwarding to Breakpoint, though.

Operation Oracle happened in 2019. When Walker and his crew of Wolves take over Auroa, we’re in 2023, and on to the next mission: Operation Greenstone.

Operation Greenstone

We’re in 2023, and the team of four ghosts finds themselves facing an entirely hostile island to take down Walker and his crew of Wolves. To make matters worse, he has control of all the drones and pieces of technology Skell had access to, which means they’re in for one hell of a fight to retake the island.

Overall, we learn about the sequel by playing through Operation Oracle. It’s here we learn about Cole Walker, what’s motivating him to fight back, and why he’s trying so hard to gain redemption for those who have passed away. He wants to give his former brother-in-arms retribution against those who wronged and murdered them, and he’s going to see it through to the end. Skell Technology may not be the best company, but they get caught in the middle of it all, and it’s up to this four-person squad of Ghosts to fight back.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is going to have players digging their teeth in and attempting to survive on an entirely hostile island. Unlike Wildlands, where NPCs on the island were passive, all of the NPCs players encounter on Auroa are going to be hostile, unless stated otherwise. Players are going to spend a majority of the time on the run, attempting to survive, and are going to remain stealthy because they do not have numbers on their side. It’s a different take on the previous title, and it could prove exceptionally well for the franchise.

You can pre-order Ghost Recon Breakpoint right for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. Breakpoint releases this year on October 4.
