How to add another account to PS5

Share a PS5.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

You can share your PlayStation 5 with another member of your household. The account you have will contain all of your personal and financial information, any digital game you’ve purchased, cloud saves, and much more. If you want to share a PS5 with someone but don’t want to share the same settings and keep your settings separate, you can add another account to your console.

You can do this in the PlayStation menu on your console, holding the PS symbol on your controller and choosing the “switch user” option. From there, you want to select “add a new user,” and then “get started.” However, if you’re starting the PS5 console when it’s powered off, you can do this from the starting screen when you pick what user you want to be. Instead of using the default option, go to the “add user” choice, and then go through a get started icon. Both methods get you there.

After accepting the get started choice, there will be a long text form breaking down PlayStation’s licensing agreement. After reading it and scrolling, you can agree. After that, you can choose to create a new account or sign in using your preexisting PlayStation Network information. For those who are using preexisting accounts, make sure to type in your PlayStation Network’s username and password to access your account and bring it over to the PS5. You may also need to verify any two-factor authentication codes you’ve set up to ensure the owner is the one accessing the account.

If you need to create a fresh account, you’ll need to provide your first and last name, date of birth, country, and e-mail address. There will be a message sent to your e-mail to verify the information. You’ll also need to create a new user ID and give your account a password. Once all of that has been confirmed, the account will have been created.

After logging in with your account or creating it, you should arrive at the PlayStation menu, where you can download any games tied to your account or start a new one. You may want to add funds to your account or billing information to purchase any new digital games you want to play for those who created a fresh account.
