Here Are Must-Get Common Parts in Star Wars: Galactic Racer

On the off-chance you're only able to choose some Common Parts in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, make sure you prioritize getting these.

Common Parts in Star Wars: Galactic Racer feel like “stock” components or upgrades you’d just want to ignore. In a game where even Parts can make or break a vehicle’s build, you’d of course want to get the best Galactic Racer has to offer. But in the roguelike racer where early builds can help you a great deal in your Galactic Tour, it’d be a mistake to ignore gold if it were staring you in the face.

Common Parts might have the most “basic” effects in the game, but some of them just synergize well with a lot of builds that you should grab them given the chance. If ever you only had Common Parts to choose from in whatever scenario, see if any of them are the Parts we have below:

Defensive Start

Almost everyone wants to secure the Perfect Start in their Galactic Racer gameplay, and some Parts actually reward (or punish) players for doing this. Among Common Parts, Defensive Start offers a 10-second Shield the moment you secure the Perfect Start.

Since starting a race gets everyone crowded, getting Shield is a good way to guarantee no repercussions for offensive and ramming builds. If you know there’s a tight spot somewhere, just a good brush while Shielded can score early takedowns.

Cooling Aerofoils

At first glance, Cooling Aerofoils just gives you Cooled while you’re airborne. It doesn’t seem like that remarkable for a Galactic Racer Part (and for a Common, that’s sorta the point), but it’s a very accessible trigger for a useful ability. With Cooled, your Ramjet doesn’t heat up as fast, and it recharges faster. And you know where’s the best place to use a Ramjet? High up in the air!

With most Galactic Racer tracks offering some way to get airborne, you have a surefire way of using your Ramjet for longer. Even if you need a quick Ramjet recharge, just Afterburner your way to a ramp and see your Ramjet refueled for a quick boost as soon as you land.

Overcharging Afterburner

When you get the Overcharged status, you get extra Energy and your Abilities recharge faster. Not a lot of things trigger Overcharged, but when you access a build that does it, then you’re sure to proc your Abilities more often – giving you more control over the race. With Overcharging Afterburner, you even get a full Afterburner for it.

With this, Afterburner ensures you can squeeze as much of your top speed potential as possible whenever you’re Overcharged. Just getting Overcharged Autopilot means you spend a few hands-free seconds with the vehicle just building speed for you. And if not Autopilot, Afterburner can get you close to enemies you want to target with your other Abilities.

Afterburner Recharger

When you look at Afterburner Recharger, it does live up to its Common categorization. So the Afterburner instantly refills when your Ramjet is ready, what’s the big deal? If your Ramjet is ready, it’s very likely you’ll use the Ramjet. And in most situations, the Afterburner is already filled up when you finish your Ramjet, right?

That’s mostly true. But what about situations where it’s not filled when you end Ramjet? One advanced strategy in most Galactic Racer tracks is to treat races as a big “melody” where it’s really just a matter of alternating your Ramjet and Afterburner. Get this “rhythm” right and you’d understand why most corners are put the way they were, and there’s going to be some brake or maneuver combo that works just right with either the Ramjet or the Afterburner. You’d want both of them filled when you experiment.

Aerial Intakes

Think of Aerial Intakes as the cool cousin of Cooling Aerofoils. Instead of being Cooled, being airborne now stops your Ramjet from getting any heat outright. Same with the Cooling Aerofoils, this is a great Common Part to take, as there’s a lot of opportunities to get airborne on most tracks.

Not to mention, with Vectored Shockwave, your Shockwave now propels you forwards and upwards whenever it hits an opponent. Time it with a Ramjet and close to a ramp, and the air is practically a wide highway.

Volatile Battery

Races in Galactic Racer aren’t just about speed, especially when Abilities give you some way of controlling the battlefield. With a Tech Expert build, you’d get access to a plethora of gizmos to secure the advantage one way or another, and you’d want as many Energy as possible to proc them. Volatile Battery comes in as a quick lifesaver with that +4 Energy.

What’s interesting is that Volatile Battery doesn’t even cost you anything to activate it. Just start the race and you get +4 Energy. Granted, it’s lost on a Crash. But that means if you know the track well, you almost never lose it. And if you’re not as confident, then just use those Abilities as fast as possible.
