Construct some bridges and inclines to expand your Animal Crossing: New Horizons island.

Traversing your island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons is all about saving time. What’s the best way for you to get from one location and to the next? A great way to connect your island is to use bridges and inclines.

You need to unlock the museum and Nook’s cranny. You need to have these fully open and available. After that, Tom Nook will talk to you about how he wants to expand the island and add more space. Tom provides you with the DIY recipe to unlock the bridge, and you start crafting them at any station. You will need four log stakes, four clay, and four stones. Of the materials, the log stakes will take the longest because you need three wood for each one, meaning you need to gather up a total of 12 wood to construct all of the log stakes.

When you have the item ready, you can place it at any of the locations on your island to connect it to another section of the island and connect the two. You now have additional space to your new home in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

After you build your first Bridge, you can construct more from an upgraded Resident Services. There are a few on offer for various prices.

To construct an incline, you need to go a bit more out of your way to construct it. First, head over to your Resident Services building and talk to Tom Nook about discussing infrastructure and pick the incline option. You can choose from these options:

  • Natural Ramp: 98,000 Bells
  • Blue-plank Ramp: 128,000 Bells
  • White-plank Ramp: 128,000 Bells
  • Log staircase: 168,000 Bells
  • Brick staircase: 168,000 Bells
  • Blue steel staircase: 228,000 Bells
  • Red steel staircase: 228,000 Bells

When you pick the one you like, you will receive the object from Tom, and you can place it wherever you want to add it to your island. You don’t have to pay all of those Bells upfronts, though. A construction worker will be standing next to it, and you can donate small portions of Bells to them to complete the construction. When you reach the full among, you’re good to go, and the project is done.

These projects are a great way to modify your island and make traversing the location far faster than normal. You also have more room for your favorite projects.
