How to buy Champion Throwback Challenge research task tickets in Pokémon Go

Missed a throwback challenge? You can still participate.

The Unova Champion Throwback Challenge of 2020 will be available starting on June 3 and goes until June 8 in Pokémon Go. It will be immediately available for all players who, leading up it, completed the Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh events. However, for those who missed out on completing one of these and no longer qualify for the event, you can still participate.

Anyone who missed out on the event can purchase a ticket to participate in it during the event times. You can buy it from the Pokémon Go application. All you have to do is open it up on your smartphone device and click the PokéBall icon on the bottom of the screen. Go to the in-game shop, and you should find it available for purchase, but you won’t be able to buy it using PokéCoins. You can only real-world money, and the ticket is worth $7.99.

The ticket will be available starting on June 3 at 1:00pm and will remain in the shop until June 8 at 1:00pm in your timezone. The challenge is not a timed event, meaning you will have the option to complete all of the tasks at your pace. If you purchase the ticket when you already qualify for the event, every Pokémon encounter instead rewards you 10 candies of that Pokémon. You will also receive Stardust instead of Professor Willow’s glasses for the avatar reward.

During the event, Unova Pokémon will show up more frequently, and the tasks available in the event provide trainers with the chance to encounter rare Galarian Pokémon, such as Galarian Meowth, Galarian Stunfisk, and Genesect. In addition to those two Galarian Pokémon, Galarian Zigzagoon, and Galarian Darumaka, will be potential 7-kilometer egg rewards during the event, so make sure to share gifts with your friends every day from June 3 to the 8 for a chance to encounter more.

Don’t miss your chance to encounter Galarian Pokémon and Genesect during the Champion Throwback Challenge of 2020. The event starts on June 3, and the tickets go on sale at the same time.
