How to catch the Walking Stick in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Another bug for Blathers.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

For the start of July, a new bug is available in Animal Crossing: New Horizons for those in the northern hemisphere. The Walking Stick bug is not the most expensive one you can sell, and it’s certainly not the prettiest. Still, you can find it wandering around your garden, and you need to try to capture it at certain times. You do need to bring it to Blathers to complete his collection.

You want to look for the Walking Stick crawling across the side of trees anywhere on your island. You will undoubtedly scare the bug if you try to get too close to it while holding a net, so make sure to sneak up on it while before you attempt to capture it. Once you do, bring it to Blathers to add to his collection or sell it at the Nook Shop for 600 bells.

While not the most expensive or valuable bug in the world, the times of the day are what set it apart. You can only find it from 4 am to 8 am, and then again from 5 pm to 7 pm. You need to be an early bird to catch it or choose to forgo dinner for a little bit of time of venturing around your island.

The Walking Stick bug is available at these dates and times for each hemisphere:

Northern Hemisphere

  • July, August, September, October, and November
  • 4 am to 8 am, and then 5 pm to 7 pm

Southern Hemisphere

  • January, February, March, April, and May
  • 4 am to 8 am, and then 5 pm to 7 pm
