The mythical Melody Pokémon, Meloetta, is making its debut in Pokémon Go for Pokémon Go Fest 2021. If you want a chance to capture this Pokémon, you will need to purchase a Pokémon Go Fest 2021 ticket, and then you need to work your way through The Melody Pokémon Special Research. You have a chance to encounter Meloetta at the end, earning you an exclusive encounter with Meloetta before it releases to all other players in the game. During this Special Research, you can make several choices, giving you a distinct band name based on what Pokémon you pick to join your band. This guide will detail how to complete The Melody Pokémon Special Research tasks and rewards and all the choices you can make within it.
All of the choices and paths you choose in The Melody Pokémon Special Research does give you the same ending. So you don’t have to worry about having something different than another player. The only thing that will be different is the band name you receive based on the Pokémon options you picked to join your band. You also receive different rewards based on what path you go down.

Task 3 (Galarian Ponyta joins band)
- Use 15 berries to help catch a Pokémon – 25 Poké balls
- Make 3 Curveball throws – 500 XP
- Make 3 Nice Throws in a row – 500 Stardust

Task 4 (Flygon joins band)
- Take a snapshot – An incense
- Walk 1 KM – 500 XP
- Use an incense – 20 Ultra Balls
Rewards: 500 Stardust, three rare candies, and a Flygon Pokémon Go Fest 2021 costume encounter
Task 4 (Gardevoir joins band)
- Take a snapshot – An incense
- Walk 1 KM – 500 XP

Task 5
- Power up Pokémon 3 times – 1 Star Piece
- Evolve 3 Pokémon – 3 Revives
- Defeat 2 Team Go Rocket members – 3 Hyper Potions
Rewards: 3 Max Potions, 3 Max Revives, and 20 Trapinch Candy (if you picked Flygon bandmate) or 20 Ralts candy (if you picked Gardevoir bandmate)
Task 6
- Send 3 gifts to friends – 30 Great Balls
- Catch 15 difference species of Pokémon – 1,000 XP
- Earn a heart with your buddy – 1,000 Stardust
Rewards: 5 Golden Razz Berries, 5 Silver Pinap Berries, and 1 incense
Task 7
- Use 10 berries to help catch Pokémon – 1,000 XP
- Catch 10 Pokémon – 3,000 Stardust
- Earn 5,000 Stardust – 3,000 XP
Rewards: 1 Star Piece, 1 Lucky Egg, and a Meloetta encounter
Task 8
- Take a snapshot of Meloetta – 1 Lure module
- Transfer 30 Pokémon – 20 Meloetta candy
- Make a new friend – 3 Rare Candies
Rewards: 10 Meloetta stickers, 1 Rock Star Avatar Pose (if you picked Pikachu Rock Star) or 1 Pop Star pose (If you picked Pikachu Pop Star), and 1 Meloetta T-shirt
