Island life in Animal Crossing: New Horizons can be a bit barren and boring at the start. There isn’t much to do other than pay off your bills and explore. We need more things to do such as having places to buy things!
Thankfully this is where Nook’s Cranny comes in, a humble little shop that you can unlock on your island by hitting various checkpoints in your island life. It is one of the first stores you unlock in the game so you won’t have to wait long to get your hands on it.
First and foremost, you need to have completed the first Mortgage payment which costs 5,000 Nook Miles. You also need to have Blathers in your town, who you can unlock by giving five different species of either Fish or Bugs to Nook to unlock the first stage of the Museum.
Once Blathers is in your town and set up (not just a construction site) you can go to Resident Services and talk to Timmy who will talk about how they want to open a store (aka. Nook’s Cranny) on the island but will need something from you first.
You’ll need a lot of materials to get the building though. You will need 30 Iron Nuggets, 50 Hardwood, 50 Softwood, and 50 Wood. So be sure to stock up ahead of time to get all these items.
Once you give Timmy the resources you will be given a Tent to place down Nook’s Cranny wherever you want on your island. Then you need to wait two days from setting down the Tent for the store to finally appear so you can buy a host of items and resources from it!
