Mario Kart Tour got some new Challenges today! There are loads of new Challenges in the game for you to try and achieve to mark the start of the Tokyo Tour. One such Challenge is to use Lightning three times, and this one is a little awkward if you don’t know what you are doing.

Mario Kart Tour – How To Use Lightning Three Times

The reason this Challenge is a little awkward is, if you are good at the game, you might have never seen the Lightning item! Sure, you may have been hit by it, but you may have never picked it up. The Lightning will hit any driver in front of you with a bolt of lightning, making them smaller and slower, giving you a chance to catch up.

This is a pretty rare item in the game, but you significantly increase your chances of getting it if you are in the last place or second-last place. As such, the only way to do this Challenge is to throw some races pretty hard.

Don’t use any driver that has a speed boost, and don’t Rocket Boost to start the race. Just do everything you can to go as slowly as possible to make sure you are in the last place. Then pick up every item box that you see until you get the Lightning and can use it.

The good thing is you don’t need to do all three in a single race, and you have two weeks to do the Challenge. Losing races on purpose can be pretty boring, so if you don’t want to have to do it over and over again until you get the Challenge done, you can break it up over a few days.
