Star Wars: Galactic Racer – How to Unlock All Favours

Being a racing roguelike, Star Wars: Galactic Racer provides you with a lot of ways to customize your playthroughs – one of which are Favours that you unlock as you interact with other racers and complete certain objectives in the game. These are special “perks” you slot into your character’s loadout before each Tour, and they provide you with unique advantages that enhance your gameplay.

Think of Favours as passive environmental “effects,” as opposed to Abilities that can directly influence the outcome of Races. There are 20 Galactic Racer Favours can earn, and they can be segregated across categories depending on how they can affect your playthrough:

Credit Earners

Credits are practically your secondary lifeline in Galactic Racer gameplay, especially when it determines just how much you can juice up your vehicle. The more Credits you have, the more upgrades you can get for your kit. This makes you more formidable in races, increasing your chances of winning. Of course, to get Credits, you have to win first. So if you got the occasional Faulty Part or just didn’t get good upgrades at the onset, you better have the Credits so you can get gear appropriate to your Racer Style.

It doesn’t help that Parts and upgrades can get expensive quickly. Everything in the shop costs credits – be it repairing a Faulty Part, shuffling the offered goods, or buying a Part in general. If you haven’t won a lot of races especially in Galactic Racer Multiplayer, then it’s tough luck for you. Thankfully, there are Favours that help you earn Credits beyond what the races can provide:

Parts and Repair Upkeep

Upgrading your kit in Galactic Racer gameplay is no joke. You only get one chance to shop before you have to pursue all the races on that planet. And the next chance you get to shop is after you land on the next planet (and before you start the next leg). Aside from that, you can only shop if you get the Scrap Dealer Tour Event. So if you haven’t lucked out in your races and didn’t get good gear as you made progress, you’re going to want to shop real soon.

Not to mention, if Hibi’s Shop or the Scrap Dealer has bad offers, then you’re stuck with whatever you have until you get another chance to shop. Thankfully, there are Galactic Racer Favours that let you “manipulate” the shops to your benefit:

Better Reward Packs

Whenever you finish Tour Events in your Galactic Racer gameplay, you’ll get Reward Packs. These contain a number of Upgrades or Parts that can improve your vehicle. This system guarantees you can improve your vehicle as you make progress through the Tour, even if you don’t win a lot of Races.

But there are also certain Galactic Racer Favours that, when activated, also improve this aspect of the roguelike. These won’t let you control what you’ll get from a Reward pack. But they can boost the odds of higher-rarity prizes, among other effects.

Run Safety

Getting a lot of Credits, available Parts, and even Rewards won’t matter as much if you don’t make it out of Events in top shape. Crashes remain a threat to your Galactic Racer run, and running out of League Entry Tokens kicks you out of the competition entirely.

Thankfully, there are Galactic Racer Favours that help in this department. If you equip any one of these, you get a better shot at outlasting the competition no matter how treacherous the races become. And with some Racer Styles encouraging more aggressive gameplay, having these lifelines as insurance can make dangerous plays more exciting.

Combat and Stat Boosts

Let’s face it, there are just some Galactic Racer Abilities that turn the game into sci-fi Mario Kart. These add a layer of danger to races, as some opponents might be out to kick you off the Tour entirely instead of just getting ahead – especially in Multiplayer. The only way against this is to get some Abilities yourself to launch a counter, or make sure your vehicle is stable enough to tank these threats as they come.

Thankfully, there are Galactic Racer Favours that tackle your vehicle’s overall stats and survivability. When combined with the Favours that give you more Crash allowances, your vehicle can get some breathing room doing some risky plays or go toe-to-toe with some of your more dangerous rivals.

Frequently Asked Questions about Galactic Racer Favours

Can you change Favours during a Tour?

No. You can equip three before a Tour and they’re locked to your Tour until the next one. So pick with the whole Tour and your potential build in mind.

Can you unlock Favours outside the Campaign?

No, all 20 Favours can only be unlocked in the Campaign.

How do you trigger a Rivalry Head-to-Head race?

Just keep betting on that same racer and try to talk to them after races. This is still RNG, which is why the five rival Favours take the longest to unlock.
