You Win Some, You Lose Some: Everything About League Entry Tokens In Star Wars Galactic Racer

Star Wars: Galactic Racer League Entry Tokens are the lifeblood of any player, and losing all of it means resetting all of your progress. Thankfully, the game does offer ways to get more of these Tokens and even protect them.

Star Wars: Galactic Racer sets itself apart from most racing games by balancing that need for speed with the thrill of risk, courtesy of a roguelike element that randomizes almost everything about its races. At the center is the Galactic Racer League Entry Token, essentially the only lifeline Shade has to stay in the competition. Lose this, and you have to reset your Tour, no matter how far along you’ve gotten.

With this real stake tied to your overall run, you have to take care in ensuring you don’t lose this League Entry Token no matter what. But just what else do you need to know about the League Entry Token?

Introducing the League Entry Token

To recap, the League Entry Token is the “invitation” Shade needs to participate in the Galactic Tour. From the perspective of the game’s roguelike mechanics, this is the “life” you possess before your run technically ends.

At the start of your campaign, you usually only have the one League Entry Token. This makes every choice of Event crucial, as one mistake means forfeiting your progress and going all the way to the start of the Tour with whatever default settings you chose.

The ways you can lose your League Entry Token in Galactic Racer

Being a roguelike, Galactic Racer gameplay encourages players to play it smart, keep their cards close to their chest, and race with intent. Players can’t afford to be careless, because the game punishes racers for mistakes.

While the thrill of racing makes risk-taking so tempting, just be on the lookout for these things that can definitely derail your progress:

  • Wrecked Outs: Crashes by default do not eliminate you in Galactic Racer. But Crash enough times and you’ll get Wrecked, and your car will be perceived as too damaged to even continue racing for the rest of the Tour. You lose your League Entry Token if you Wrecked Out.
  • Eliminator Event: Of all the Tour Events in Galactic Racer, Eliminator can be especially treacherous. You need to finish 1st to 3rd or avoid being last throughout the race. If you’re eliminated, you lose your League Entry Token.
  • Rivalry Head-to-Head: If you annoy a racer enough times, they can challenge you to a Head-to-Head. You have to win if you accept the challenge, especially if a Favour unlock is on the line. But if you lose, you lose your League Entry Token.

Some Tour Events don’t make you lose your League Entry Tokens

Losing a Tour Event doesn’t automatically mean you’ll lose your League Entry Tokens. There are actually Events that just encourage you to win because of rewards, or involve no competition at all. If you’re after a survival-focused run, try to focus on these risk-free Events:

  • Standard Races: In a Standard Race, as long as you finish without getting Wrecked Out, you don’t get eliminated.
  • Field Tests: If you lose a Field Test challenge, you get no reward, but your League Entry Token remains safe.
  • Mystery Encounters: These are mainly conversations, so no League Entry Token is at stake. The only way this could be dangerous is if some consequence is involved that directly affects your performance, like a Faulty Part or a sabotage crash at the start of the next race.

Crashes are not the same as Wrecked Outs

Suffering a Crash means damaging your vehicle enough that it explodes, gets thrown off the track, or anything that involves funny ragdoll physics. This will not get you out of the race, but you reset your progress from where you Crashed. You also have a limited number of Crashes per race. Here are things to remember:

  • Crashes reset per race
  • Use all of these Crashes and that’s when you’ll get Wrecked and declared unfit to continue the race
  • You get 4 Crashes if you start as a Cadet, and you get less Crash allowances per difficulty level
  • At Champion, you only get 1 Crash for the whole Tour

Losing is its own reward: Things kept after losing all League Entry Tokens

If you do lose your League Entry Tokens, it’s not like you get nothing out of the current Tour you just lost. Like with other roguelikes, each loss is another chance at winning, and this time you’ll be at a much better position than your previous Tour. If you lose your League Entry Token, you restart your Tour but this time with the following:

  • Racer Styles you unlocked based on your progress
  • Favours you unlocked after meeting specific requirements
  • Parts you purchased may become available in the shop when you next encounter it
  • Abilities you acquired may be purchasable from the shop when you next encounter it
  • Milestones you achieved after finishing objectives

Protect your League Entry Token with Favours

Mechanics like the Racer Style heavily influence your Galactic Racer performance, but Favours gained from dealing with other racers can also give you surprising advantages. Have these equipped at the start of the Tour and you can rank them up during play, giving you even more benefits.

If you strike the fancy of enough rivals, you might just get the kind of lifeline you need for your League Tokens:

Mad Genius Favour

One of the first Favours you will get in Galactic Racer is the Mad Genius Favour, which the game gives you as soon as you clear the first two planets of Act 1. The +1 Crash per Event is already a godsend, and the +2 Crashes on higher levels give you a lot of leeway to enjoy riskier plays. The game even has a chance to reward you with a free League Event Token in your next Tour, assuming you knockdown an opponent at any point in this one. And with the game’s many offensive Abilities, that knockdown requirement can feel very easy.

  • Unlock: Complete the first two planets of Act 1
  • Rank 1: Get +1 Crash per Event
  • Rank 2: Get +2 Crashes per Event
  • Rank 3: Get +2 Crashes per Event, and if you score a Knockdown you have a chance to get +1 League Event Token in the next Tour

Clandestine Aid Favour

When you finish the entirety of Act 1 and get inside the Galactic League, you get the Clandestine Aid Favour. It essentially gives you a free League Event Token at the start of every Tour. This is the best Token-related Favour in the game, especially when you rank up, and you get more Credits to start your Tour with.

  • Unlock: Complete Act 1
  • Rank 1: Get +1 League Event Token at the start of the Tour
  • Rank 2: Start with +1 League Event Token and 1,000 Credits
  • Rank 3: Start with +1 League Event Token and 2,000 Credits

Second Chance Favour

When you attend Mystery Encounters with Katja Mox, she will dare you to survive the current planet with a specific handicap. Doing this once is already challenging, but doing this twice makes the reward all the more worth it. The Second Chance Favour protects one League Token from being lost within the first two planets. If you rank up, this protection lasts up to four planets – practically the start of the second leg.

  • Unlock: Finish Events with her handicaps in place, then turn down her offer in the 3rd Planet
  • Rank 1: You can’t lose 1 League Token for the first 2 Planets
  • Rank 2: Same protection but for 3 Planets
  • Rank 3: Same protection but for 4 Planets

Racer Roulette Favour

During Mystery Encounters with Biddy Blas, he will dare you to race him with Sidebets on the line. He can do this repeatedly throughout the Tour, and sometimes you’d just feel bad defeating the guy all the time. But just endure for three times, and win his Rivalry Head-to-Head, and his Racer Roulette Favour will make it worthwhile. Just equip this in your next run and win six (four, if fully upgraded) Sidebets against Biddy to get a free League Entry Token.

  • Unlock: Win 6 Biddy Blas Sidebets in a Tour
  • Rank 1: Get 1 League Entry Token after winning 6 Biddy Blas Sidebets in a Tour
  • Rank 2: Get it after winning 5 BIddy Blas Sidebets
  • Rank 3: Get it after 4 Biddy Blas Sidebets

Frequently Asked Questions about Galactic Racer League Entry Tokens

Do Galactic Racer League Entry Tokens carry over between Tours?

No, they are strictly tied to your current Tour run. Any extra tokens you get during a run will reset once you complete or fail that Tour.

How does “risking” a League Entry Token work in Events?

They are not “risked” in a gambling sense, but rather they are tied to high-stakes routes like Eliminators or if you accept a Rivalry Head-to-Head. Those are the ones that stake your League Entry Token, where you lose it if you fail but get more rewards if you win.

Do difficulty settings affect your League Entry Tokens?

Not directly, but difficulty does affect your crash allowance. Starting as a Cadet gives you 4 Crashes, then 3 Crashes on Pilot, only 2 Crashes for Ace, and 1 Crash for Champion (meaning if you crash, you lose the run)
