When you first start Wolfenstein: Youngblood, there is a little bit of character creation you can do. You need to pick which sister you want to play as, and also make some choices about weapons, armor, and abilities. Most of these are cosmetic, but some of them does impact your gameplay experience. In this guide, we run through each option and what changes it makes to the game.

Wolfenstein: Youngblood – Character Creation Guide

The Blazkowicz Sisters

This choice is mostly cosmetic. Both sisters have access to the same abilities, but they do have different starting weapons. Jess starts with a scoped Sturmgewhr, a medium to a long-range assault rifle. Soph starts with a Kugelgewhr, with a drum magazine, more suitable to short-range engagements.

Starting Appearance

This option is a cosmetic choice and affects the color of your power armor and the style of your helmet. Further appearance options are opened up while playing the game.

Starting Pistol

The Machinepistole is a short-range, fast firing weapon effective against light enemies. This weapon comes with a drum magazine upgrade.

The Pistole is a medium-range weapon with a slow fire rate and is effective against more massive enemies. It comes with a silencer upgrade, so it is more suitable for stealthy players.

Melee Weapon

The melee weapon difference is cosmetic only; they both have the same stats.

Starting Ability

For your starting ability, you can pick between Crush and Cloak. Crush is an offensive ability that lets you sprint into light enemies and do damage, or knock them over. It also allows you to perform a slam attack while jumping.

The Cloak is a stealth ability and allows you to become invisible for a short period. Both abilities can be accessed later in the game through skill trees, and they also have upgrade versions you can get.

Pep Signals

Pep Signals are critical and allow you to convey specific buffs to your sister. The “Thumbs Up” signal will heal your sister, while the “Metal Horns” signal will restore their armor. Once again, more Pep Signals by be acquired later in the game.

And that’s it. Those are all the essential differences between the character creation options in Wolfenstein: Youngbloods.
