In a new interview with Ars Technica, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed he doesn’t feel like Sony and Microsoft are competitor of his company; time is.
“All of the rest of [a customer’s] time is entertainment time,” he said. “That’s what I compete for, minute by minute. That time you spend surfing the Web, watching a movie, watching a telecast of a conference: that’s all entertainment time we’re competing for.”
“My competitive set is much bigger than my direct competitors in Sony and Microsoft. I compete for time. When I do that, I have to be creative and innovative in order to win that battle,” Fils-Aime.
That’s quite honest from his point of view and, looking at the fact that many players consider Nintendo Switch like a second console to accompany PS4 and Xbox One with, the struggle for “time” is real.
As both Microsoft and Sony look into the next-generation matter, it looks like Nintendo is taking advantage of the good moment of Switch in order to develop more and more titles that can sell well thanks to the success of the platform.
Is it a good position to do so, or Nintendo will more likely need other raw power in the future?
