A new PS4 system update, 6.02 version, is now available for download. Sony hasn’t said it explicitly, but it’s clearly supposed to be fixing the message bug discovered over the weekend.
By official definition, “this system software update improves system performance,” which is the standard changelog released by Sony for not major updates for the console.
Interestingly, only yesterday we’ve reported about the PlayStation UK workaround to avoid resetting the console once you encountered the message bug (which they said was fixed yesterday already).
“We’ve since fixed the issue, and it wasn’t bricking consoles, just sending them into a crash loop that can be quickly fixed in under 5 minutes,” said the tweet. “Delete the message on the PS mobile app, go into Safe Mode, use Option 5, console back to normal.”
In an email to VG247, though, Sony said that “we are aware of the situation and are planning a system software update to resolve this problem,” so the 6.02 firmware update is the one they were planning to get rid of the message bug.
Make sure you download it as soon as possible, and we will update you in case someone finds out it is not as effective as the PlayStation maker thinks it should be.
