Twitch streamers are at it again. This time the culprit is a partnered streamer by the name of Alinity whose causing quite the stir for various forms of animal abuse. The incidents in question are clipped from her streams, preserved for digital eternity on multiple websites. Thankfully, since Alinity has long since deleted the original clips.

Alinity – A Brief History of Negativity and Drama

Natalie “Alinity” Mogollon is a Canadian variety streamer on Twitch with nearly 900,000 followers. From the looks of her past streams, her content is almost always labeled “Just Chatting,” one of Twitch’s categories, instead of the actual game. It’s also possible she changes the category later as the stream progresses. Regardless, her recent content is either “IRL” stuff or Apex Legends.

Previously, she has been the target of sexist verbal and digital attacks, accused of favoritism by Twitch because of her gender; using her body to earn viewers; and more. It’s the usual stuff women in gaming see from male peers. PewDiePie accused Twitch of special treatment of Alinity a year ago. She replied with launching a copy strike attempt.

Besides the above, there’s some general unpleasantness around her Canadian citizenship. In an offhand comment to her friend, she claimed she married her then-husband to gain citizenship and divorced him. When that statement went viral a year ago and launched petitions to have her deported, she said in a Twitter post:

While generally an unlikeable person, it’s hard to tell if that’s a cover or just a weak statement made in bad taste. This time, however, she’s earned the onslaught of hate coming from the community. Alinity has committed at least four acts of animal abuse on camera. I apologize that I cannot embed all the clips. Since Alinity deleted the clips from her Twitch, they are housed on external pages that don’t allow the feature.

The Trending Incident – Throwing Her Cat

This isn’t the first incident in the timeline, but it sparked the recent backlash. While playing Apex Legends, Alinity’s cat, named Milo, somehow got in the way of her game. In response, Alinity picks her cat up and flings it over her head to move him.

After the clip went viral, Alinity apologized on Twitter for her actions, while simultaneously defending them with poor taste and humor. No one was convinced.

The Worst Offense – Giving Her Cat Vodka

People aren’t all on the same page for the infamous kitty toss above. Some view it as horrific; others see it as blown out of proportion, bad but not that bad. Everyone seems to agree that the next one as bad as it looks.

This is an older clip, from roughly a year ago. Alinity takes a sip of vodka, entices her cat close to her mouth, and forces some of it into the cat’s mouth. The cat doesn’t like it, seen spitting, and leaves her side. Alinity meanwhile laughs.

Alcohol of any kind is incredibly toxic to cats and dogs. Even a little bit can be dangerous or fatal to them. This small act put the animal at risk and, luckily, almost everyone agrees this is the worst offense.

Kicking the Dog, Literally

We’re drifting into the area without clips. I saw this one briefly. It was included in a video on the subject, and I managed to track down a clip of it online. While I can’t say what’s going on in the video, the dog is interested in the cat behind Alinity. In response, Alinity kicks it as it walks by to stop its interest. The kick from the angle looks hard enough to be called a “kick” and not a tap.

Stickers and the Cats

Unlike the one above, I haven’t even found clips of this one hidden in other videos. At some point, Alinity allegedly put large stickers on both of her cats’ faces and laughed as they struggled to take them off. Some sources, including the title of a now-deleted clip, says it was over the cats’ mouths.

Without seeing the clip, it’s challenging to know the severity. When it says “face,” I thought it meant on the forehead. A cruel prank indeed. However, as another suggests it was the “mouth” of the animals, that makes the act significantly worse.

Saskatoon SPCA and PETA

This part is still developing. Saskatoon SPCA posted on their Twitter that they have received a formal complaint about the situation and are investigating. Also, Alinity herself contacted the Saskatoon SPCA, asking them to perform a wellness check on her pets to confirm their living situation.

The videos have been submitted to Saskatoon SPCA, so they will see the events and decide for themselves.

In an attempt to draw more attention to the drama, PETA was tagged on Twitter. PETA was quick to respond, calling for her to be banned for her actions. Rarely do I agree with PETA, but it seems we’re on the same page this time.

It’s good that this is gaining traction with bigger names like PETA, even if they’re not the best advocates for animals out there. With both the Saskatoon SPCA involved and PETA’s voice magnifying it, it may penetrate Twitch’s thick skulls yet.

Response and Outrage

The outrage is justified. While Alinity has referred to it as a “witch hunt,” it’s far from. There’s plenty of evidence floating around the internet for curious browsers to view.

Among the outrage is Keemstar, owner of Drama Alert. Keemstar posted, and then deleted, a Tweet accusing Alinity of sexual favors towards married Twitch staff, suggesting she hasn’t been banned because of this. In the Tweet, Keem says he’s planning to make a video with all the proof he has “today.” The Tweet was removed for unknown reasons, and there is no video from Keem as of yet. We will see what develops on that front.

Keemstar is leading a section of the charge. He feels that Twitch gives its female users preferential treatment, suggesting that men would have been banned by now.

Before we get too into that, let’s remind everyone that Dr. Disrespect broke California law on camera, filmed unwilling participants, including minors, in the bathroom, at the urinals, and only got a 30-day ban. The fact that he got his channel back at all speaks to Twitch’s, and subsequently, Amazon’s, greed.

I do not doubt that if Alinity were a smaller streamer, she would have already lost her channel.

Keem’s suggestions unleashed a flood of sexism directed at the streamer. They include accusing her of using her breasts to get viewers, throwing sexist slurs and language around, accusing her of sexual favors, and more. That only scratches the surface.

She’s a terrible person for many reasons, but instead of attacking those, angry gamer boys dissolve into attacks based on gender.

Luckily, that’s not the only response. Her Twitter page alone is filled with people calling her a “clown” or insinuating it with gifs and images. Most of us want to see her burn for her animal abuse. At the very least, we’re asking for Twitch to recognize this is a problem, as they have banned for less before. As it sits, Alinity is a partner with many followers, bringing in a lot of revenue for Twitch and Amazon. Getting past that blockade will be the most significant task for those searching for justice for her pets.
