Before you start your new life in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, you will need to place your tent. If it feels a little daunting, then it might be easier to decide on a location knowing that, yes, you can move the tent later.
After you upgrade the Resident Services center, you will be able to move nearly everything in the game. The bad news is that this is expensive, costing 30,000 Bells to move other buildings and your own plot. This is a lot of Bells, and they would be better spent on something else.
As such, the best thing to do is to make sure you place your tent in a good spot to begin with. If you plan on playing multiplayer a lot, then pop it down near the airport. If you want some easy harvesting in the early game, then somewhere near lots of trees and rocks is good.
It is a good idea to have a good walk around the island before you place it, and try to come up with a vision for what you want the island to look like in the long-term. If you are not happy with it further down the line, you at least know that you have the option to move it.
