How to get Legend Tokens in Apex Legends

Stockpile those tokens.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

Currently, in Apex Legends, there are 13 characters that you’re able to play as. Appropriately, these characters are called “Legends,” and each comes with their special abilities and cosmetics. However, only six of the Legends are given to you for free. The rest need to be unlocked through Apex Coins (750) or Legend Tokens (12,000).

Where do Legend Tokens come from?

If you’ve played Apex Legends for any period, chances are you’ve already accumulated Legend Tokens. After you level up, you’re given 600 tokens that will addon to any other Tokens you already have.

Look at the top right of your screen in the pre-game lobby to see how many Legend Tokens you currently have. The Legend Tokens are symbolized with a red outline and fancy “L.”

The only way to earn Legend Tokens is through playing Apex Legends. As previously stated, with each new level, you earn 600 more tokens. This will happen throughout your entire time in Apex Legends. Even after you reach the maximum level of 500, you’ll still earn 600 tokens as you continue playing.

When you have enough tokens in your possession, there are a couple of options available to you as to how you can spend them. You can smartly save 12,000 of them for a particular Legend you want to unlock. This is done through the “Legends” tab in the in-game Store.

Aside from that, there are certain cosmetics in the Store that can be unlocked with Legend Tokens. Though, you’ll often need another weapon or character skin to spend the tokens. These items are on a timed rotation, so if you don’t see something you like, wait a couple of days for a new item to enter the shop.
