Some Pokemon in Sword and Shield have specific criteria you need to meet to be able to evolve them. Clobbopus is one such Pokemon. While it is possible to catch their evolution, Grapploct, later in the game, you can also evolve the Pokemon using the below method.

How to Evolve Clobbopus into Grapploct In Pokemon Sword And Shield

You can catch Clobbopus on Route 9, where they will be between level 39 and 43, or you can try your luck in a Max Raid Battle in the Wild Area to catch them sooner. To evolve into Grapploct, Clobbopus needs to know the move Taunt.

It would typically learn Taunt at level 35, so if you catch a Clobbopus who is higher than that, but doesn’t know the move, you can go to a Pokemon Center to help it remember the move. When the Clobbopus knows the move, put it in your party, and you can level it up until it evolves. You only need to level it up once after it learns Taunt, and it will evolve.

If you are patient, you will be able to catch a level 50 Grapploct shortly after you get your Rotom Bike upgrade that allows it to travel on water. Grapploct also appears as a strong spawn in the Wild Area overworld later in the game.
