How to get the Palindrome in Destiny 2

Say it backwards.

The Palindrome returns to Destiny 2 in the Season of the Chosen. This Hand Cannon from the original Destiny is a heavy-hitting Adaptive Frame weapon, with the One for All Perk that will give a damage increase after shooting three different targets.

The weapon has 84 Impact and 44 Range, but the 140 rounds per minute places it slightly outside of the PvP meta, which seems to be embracing 120 Hand Cannons at the moment. Still, it’s a really nice weapon, and well worth the effort to get.

To get your hands on the Palindrome, you will need to embrace the Nightfall activity. A welcome change in Destiny 2 Season of the Chosen is the return of Nightfall-specific loot. With many Guardians out there grinding these challenges for materials, it is nice to have something else in the mix as a potential reward.

The drops work on rotation, with three different weapons in the mix that change every week. Those weapons are as follows:

  • Shadow Price
  • Palindrome
  • The Swarm

So, if you got a Swarm to drop, it will be two weeks before the Palindrome appears, etc.

How hard it is to get the weapon will depend on the level of the Nightfall you run, with it becoming a Common drop at 1300 Power. Below that, it’s hard to get, so don’t put too much effort into grinding for it until you can swing the odds in your favor at the higher Power level.

Potential God Rolls

While God Rolls often boil down to personal preference and playstyle, there is still some simple maths at play, with some perks just being better than others.

For PvP, Hammer-Forged Rifling, Richochet Rounds, Quickdraw and Rangefinder will make you competitive at range with the 120s. For PvE, Hammer-Forged Rifling, Appended Mag, Outlaw, and Rampage make an unsurprising list of solid perks, just like most other Hand Cannons.
