How to get wonder weapons in Outbreak in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies

Get to blasting the undead away with a wonder weapon.

Wonder weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Zombies are always among the most powerful. They bring tons of firepower and a unique effect that cannot be found anywhere else in the game. In Outbreak, these guns are sure to help you survive into later levels and gain more Refined and Flawless Aetherium Crystals.

This mode does have a slight difference to past maps, though, when it comes to wonder weapons. Previously, there has usually only been one or two available wonder weapons per map. In Outbreak, you can get the Raygun, the D.I.E. Shockwave, or the RAI-K84. These are not new wonder weapons by any means, but all returning at the same time is a nice boost to Zombies player’s survival chances. Here are all the ways to get the wonder weapons in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War’s Outbreak mode in Zombies.

As of this writing, there are four known ways to get one of the wonder weapons, but unfortunately, all of them take some amount of luck to receive. It should be noted, though, that each method will have a better chance of giving a wonder weapon at higher levels in Outbreak.

Golden loot boxes

As you explore the various locations of Outbreak, you will come across a variety of loot boxes. These usually range by size (small, medium, or large), but the best chest you can find is a golden one. We have covered how to get a guaranteed golden loot box, but there is a chance you could potentially come across one randomly in the world.

Megaton zombies

Megaton zombies are the returning mini-bosses from the first map in Black Ops Cold War Zombies. They appear randomly in the same situations as Panzersoldats, Manglers, Mimics, or Tempests in Outbreak. If you come across one, hit them with Dead Wire if you have that ammo mod on a weapon; otherwise, shotguns or launchers are the best ways to take them down quickly.

When the Megaton’s health is depleted, it will split into two radioactive zombies. Defeat both of them, and they have a chance to drop a wonder weapon, among other rewards, including scorestreaks, ammo, and more.

Mystery Box

As is the case with every other gun in Zombies, the wonder weapons have a chance to be retrieved from the Mystery Box. Each roll of the box costs 950 essence points and can be found on the map by finding the box with the question mark. You can also look into the sky and follow the beam of light shooting upwards.

Trials

The final confirmed way to get one of the wonder weapons in Outbreak is to complete trials. Like in Die Maschine and Firebase Z, you can pay 500 essence points to begin a trial that will be consistent between you and all teammates in the game. The difference in Outbreak when it comes to trials is that all objectives will last for five minutes, much more time than in the normal Zombie maps.

For a chance to get a wonder weapon, you need to redeem your reward when it is at legendary tier (the orange color). If you don’t get one of the wonder weapons, you also have the chance to get a free perk or Pack-a-Punched weapon, so trials are worth the effort regardless.
