Adding characters to your Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes house is crucial to craft the best teams and give yourself multiple options during a battle. Every house in the game has various characters for you to start with, but eventually, you can persuade the other characters, enemy generals, to join your side. There’s a specific way to go about this. In this guide, we’re going to cover how to recruit characters in Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes.

How to get new characters

You will be able to recruit an opposing character during significant battles in your Three Hopes campaign. The characters you encounter will vary based on your story. For example, the first big battle as the Blue Lions has you fighting against Hapi and Petra, and if you play as the Golden Deers, you will encounter Linhardt. These characters can be recruited before the battle is over, but you need to trigger these events by activating the Strategy.

A Strategy occurs at the beginning of a significant conflict. You will have the option to pick from multiple benefits for your side during the fight, and one of these options is choosing to persuade an enemy general to your side. You will need enough Strategy Resources to activate these opportunities, which you can earn by conquering the smaller regions before reaching the final battle.

After selecting the option to persuade a character to your side, it will activate sometime during the battle at opportune story moments. The character will appear, and there will be a small notification on your screen where you can choose to start the Strategy, switching the primary mission to battling against that character and recruiting to your side.

Once you and your other characters have defeated the enemy general, they will depart the battlefield, and the dialogue will show that they have now joined your side. They will be available for you to use in future conflicts throughout your Three Hopes campaign. For those who want to recruit as many characters as possible in your campaign, we recommend conquering the smaller regions before reaching a final battle in a chapter.
