What is error code 4201 in Genshin Impact?

The solution is fairly simple.
This article is over 4 years old and may contain outdated information

There have been a few problems with Genshin Impact’s official launch. Some players had trouble attempting to connect to the game’s launcher, which resulted in no updates happening. Others had problems shortly after the release, again, issues with the launcher and verifying files. Some players are also running into the issue involving error code 4201. It happens on the PlayStation 4, PC, and mobile versions of the game.

Those who have encountered this issue have posted their experiences on Reddit threads, sharing they’ve gone through attempting to restart their launcher, restart their hardware, uninstalled, and then reinstalled the program, but they still encountered error code 4201. The severity of the issue appears to be because of the game’s servers. For example, some players have reported that changing their VPN made it easier, or when they moved from their PC to a mobile device or console, things cleared up. Because it’s likely server related, the only solution you have is to be a little patient and wait it out.

You might want to try a different game and return to Genshin Impact when the servers clear up. No matter how many times you attempt to reinstall it, the servers won’t let you in.

Thankfully, Genshin Impact is not too demanding of a game to require you always jump into it to receive the daily quota. Of all the free-to-play games, it’s been the kindest to players who merely want to play an exploration game and survive with their party members, completing several quests scattered all over the world.
