With Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War adding its own content to Warzone, many are frantic about the idea of saying goodbye to the Modern Warfare weapons they’ve worked so hard to rank up. Call of Duty has always been a franchise pushing for new horizons, unafraid to make dramatic changes. So, will this trend continue in their popular battle royale, with many weapons being left behind?
From the AX-50 to the almighty Fennec, there’s a deep collection of Modern Warfare weapons that have gained traction in Warzone and it appears they won’t go anywhere in the near future. In October 2020, Activision President Rob Kostich confirmed that Warzone players can “choose either their Black Ops [Cold War] loadouts or their Modern Warfare loadouts.”
Presumably, this ultimately means that those lucky enough to snatch an in-game drop box will now have double the options when choosing a loadout. As it’s an ‘either or’ situation, players most likely won’t be able to edit Modern Warfare loadouts with Black Ops Cold War gear, and vice versa.
It has also been confirmed that all cosmetics and weapon skins purchased in the Modern Warfare iteration can still be equipped in Warzone after this transition takes place. For those looking toward the future, game progression will continue to be measured with its Battle Pass system, but will instead include Black Ops-oriented content.
Season One of the Black Ops Cold War-centric Warzone is slated for release in December, and will be available on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
