Drew McCoy, the executive producer for Apex Legends, dropped some good news for Apex Legends players today, along with some bad news for Titanfall fans. In an update on EA’s website, McCoy first addressed some issues that have made Apex Legends’ first season a little bumpier than expected, before delving into planned fixes.

We’ve hit a few bumps along the way, including missteps with our updates, not giving players enough visibility into future content, and not properly setting expectations on how we plan to support Apex Legends.

Going forward, McCoy said that the Apex Legends team would be working to address cheaters, improve server performance, and fix audio and hit detection issues in the game. He also laid out plans to improve communication between the developer and players, starting with a clarification about the game’s update schedule. According to McCoy, the team never had any plans to push regular bug fixes and updates for the game, instead of focusing on large seasonal updates, a schedule which they plan to continue.

Apex Legends players can expect more information about future updates at EA Play in June. McCoy teased a new Battle Pass with “more meaningful content,” a new playable, and a new weapon.

Hearteningly, McCoy also said that the developer is mindful of its employees’ health when planning the game’s update schedule, writing, “we want to maintain our culture as a development team and avoid crunch that can quickly lead to burnout or worse.”

While those are all positive developments for Apex Legends, they come with a cost. To keep their attention focused on Apex Legends and the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, the studio is pushing back all plans for future Titanfall titles for an indeterminate amount of time. Earlier this year, hints about a new title in the series were dropped by Respawn CEO Vince Zampella on Twitter, then it was confirmed in an EA revenue call. The new game was planned for a release this year, which looks like it will no longer be the case.
