Gearbox Software is preparing to reveal its first paid story DLC for Borderlands 3, according to the game’s official Twitter account. Borderlands 3 launched in September with a reasonably divisive campaign, but roughly a bazillion guns to make shooting your way through it enjoyable. Borderlands 3’s season pass promises a total of four campaign DLC packs to be released by September 2020.

A short video shared by Gearbox starts with a statue of Handsome Jack, the villain who Vault Hunters dispatched at the end of Borderlands 2. The camera then pans out to show what appears to be Opportunity, Handsome Jack’s stronghold, complete with a massive hologram of Jack himself. Returning character Mad Moxxi says, “Ready to bring down the house, sugar?”

The tease doesn’t spell anything out explicitly, but it’s likely the DLC will center around the two fan-favorite characters shown in the trailer, and maybe even take place in the city of Opportunity. Despite Handsome Jack dying at the end of Borderlands 2, it hasn’t stopped Gearbox from keeping him around as a hologram, an AI, and plenty of other ways without technically breaking continuity.

The Borderlands 3 website says that its DLC packs will contain “stories, missions, and challenges,” so there should be a fair amount of content coming in this first release. Up until now, the only DLC for Borderlands 3 has been a series of cosmetics packs originally included as pre-order bonuses, beyond the Bloody Harvest content drop. Shortly after the game’s release, the developer said that no new Vault Hunters would release as DLC.

More information about the upcoming DLC will arrive on Nov. 20 during the Borderlands Show stream. It airs at 8am PT on the Borderlands Twitch and YouTube channels.
