Bungie has revealed some of the details of the upcoming Destiny 2 Season of Opulence in a news post to Bungie.net. One of the new additions to the game is a new six-player activity called The Menagerie. In the Menagerie, Calus will test players by pitting them against powerful foes. Annual Pass holders can take part in Treasure Hunts to unlock the Chalice of Opulence, which will then allow them to choose the type of gear they earn from the Menagerie.
The Season of Opulence will also feature the Crown of Sorrow Raid. Set aboard the Leviathan, it will be the first time in Destiny’s history that the Raid will be made available on the first day of a new content drop. New armor and weapons will be available to earn as in-game rewards, including new Exotics.
Players will be able to take advantage of special quests to increase their power level, so they can catch up to the Guardians who have been on the grind, and Iron Banner will return with new ways to find rewards. There will also be new Crucible, Vanguard and Gambit pinnacle weapons to work towards. Finally, the Solstice of Heroes event will take place during the summer, featuring new armor sets to collect.
It seems like a fairly robust content drop, but that depends on the replayability and fun factor of The Menagerie. I spend a ridiculous amount of time playing the Prison of Elders in Destiny 1 just because it was fun to do so, so hopefully, this can recapture some of that magic.
