Electronic Arts have always been supportive of next-generation consoles as soon as they released. Many of their titles of been part of launch lineups each time a brand new machine from Microsoft, Sony or Nintendo has reached the market over the years.

PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett won’t be an exception to that rule. EA revealed during the latest meeting with investors and analysts for the closure of FY 2019 Q1 that it has already been working on games for those platforms “for some time.”

“We’re working hard on building games for next year on Gen 5, I think that’s obvious,” said chief financial officer Blake Jorgensen as shared by VGC. “I think everybody in the industry is doing that. As has happened in the past, not all games will come out on Gen 5 immediately. Games like Madden, you probably bring the Gen 5 game out when the Gen 5 console ships, not when Madden itself ships.”

“We’ll be ready on Gen 5,” Jorgensen said. “We’re very excited about it, and we’ve been working on it for some time.”

It’s worth noting that, back in April, when Sony revealed PlayStation 5’s initial specs they said that dev kits were already getting shipped to partners. It makes sense to believe that next-gen games have been in the making for around three months.

Considering both PlayStation 5 and Project Scarlett releases at the end of 2020, there’s a lot of time to do that.
