Indeed, according to a new report, Nintendo might also be studying a cooperation with the makers of the Xbox in order to debut a streaming service.
It looks like Sony is not the only gaming company to be evaluating a partnership with Microsoft on the field of cloud gaming.
According to a new report, Nintendo might also be studying cooperation with the makers of the Xbox to debut a streaming service.
Based on intel gathered by the journalist David Gibson, we learn that Nintendo is “looking to work” with Microsoft to have help and technology in the cloud segment.
In particular, the Switch platform owner would be working with Microsoft to grant itself the Azure tech that would be pivotal in launching a streaming service from Nintendo.
We don’t have lots of details about the partnership, but we learn that the plan would be to ship the streaming service “in limited regions (JP, US, etc.).”
While Sony might have handled a streaming platform on its own, having PlayStation Now active out there already, Nintendo, sure enough, needs a partner to do the same.
The company has never been technologically advanced as of the last few generations, and streaming requires a lot of that to work (data centers and more).
So, with streaming getting a bigger and bigger trending topic for the next generation, it looks safe to state that creators of Mario could be looking into a partnership like that.
Switch already has a couple of games running on streaming, such as Resident Evil 7 and Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, but they’re running through external services and in Japan only.
But also Nintendo itself is looking also to work with MSFT (Azure) to offer its own streaming service in limited regions (JP, US etc).
