Insomniac’s new Spiderman game has generated a lot of buzz since it was first revealed. Spiderman is something of a fan favorite for people who are into Marvel Comics, and he has always been a mainstay for the company. The new game looks fantastic, and fun, and we now have a release date for it. The folks over on Game Informer got the exclusive on this one, but the world now knows that Spiderman will release exclusively on PS4 on September 7.
Initially revealed at E3 2017, Spiderman is a third person action game. It will take place in an open world, giving you plenty of room to swing and wall crawl. The game will not have any kind of comic or movie tie-in, and will instead be an all new story about Spidey.
Via the Playstation Blog, developers Insomniac also gave details on various special editions of the game, and post release plans.
The Digital Deluxe edition of the game ($79.99 MSRP) will include a copy of the game as well as new story chapters with our post-launch DLC series – Marvel’s Spider-Man: The City That Never Sleeps. That’s right, we’ll be supporting the game post-launch and you’ll be getting three new chapters each with new missions, new villains and characters, and additional suits for Spider-Man. More details on that a bit later down the road. Buyers who pre-order the Digital Deluxe edition will also receive by mail a limited edition collectible pin (only available to residents of US and Canada) featuring Spider-Man as he appears on the cover art for the game.
I’m really excited for this game. Like a lot of people, I do enjoy the adventures of the web-slinger, and really look forward to see which villains will have made it into the game. Really hoping for a bit of Kraven, The Hunter! We will do our best to keep you up to date with all the Spiderman news, as it unfolds.
