From a slide released at the latest earnings call, we learn more about plans for PS4 and PS5, and in particular about their relationship as we approach the beginning of the next-generation.
In the recent past, Sony has hinted at the possibility that Death Stranding could be coming to PS5, while today we have news opposite to that.
In a slide, Sony has indeed talked about “the critical role of PS4,” sharing that it “will remain the engine of engagement and profitability for the next three years.”
With that in mind, the company also claims that the console has an “outstanding roster of exclusive AAA games still to come,” with placeholder box arts from The Last of Us Part II, Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima.
That looks like a solid confirm that all three games are still planned for PlayStation 4 and won’t be making any jump onto PS5 unless we are talking about backwards compatibility or remastered of sorts.
Indeed, Sony has promoted all these titles for PS4 and PS4 Pro, and there could even be legal issues in case they claim out of nowhere those are being shipped for PS5 instead.
So, the door might be open for ports and whatever, but the release on PS4 is nowhere to be doubt about, with the chance at this stage that those could be coming even with PS5 already out.
