Everything you need to know about Feng Shui in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Harmonize.

Feng Shui is a traditional practice around furniture placement that originated in China and has influenced people all over the world. The idea is that the placement of things in your home should complement and harmonize with the surrounding environment.

It is also a feature in Animal Crossing: New Horizons, and you can get some interesting in-game effects if you manage to follow certain rules about placing furniture in your house. Feng Shui is interesting because it is never explained, but players have worked out lots of the game’s secrets, and Feng Shui is no different.

Where the game differs from the real practice of Feng Shui is that it is not just positioning furniture that is important, but also the color of the furniture. If you place certain colored furniture in certain positions, there will be some mild benefits to be had.

If you place green furniture in the south, then your total luck will increase. If you place red furniture to the east, then your item luck will increase, netting you some better items in the shop, and as gifts from villagers. Finally, placing yellow furniture to the west will cause your money related luck to increase, increasing how much money you get from balloons.

This will only work with furniture that is placed within two tiles of the wall, so you don’t need to pack a room with these color items to take advantage of it. If you want, you can stack items, so a yellow item on top of a yellow table will give you an even greater boost, and you should always try to have some clear space in the center of the room.

Well planned Feng Shui can also give you a mild bonus to your Happy Home Academy rating, but it’s not really a difference-maker over other factors like getting full sets or having themed rooms.
