After spending what felt like an eternity (well, to some players) lulling inside a black hole, Fortnite has returned with Chapter 2, and a whole new world to play in. And what’s more, now you can do it with boats!

We previously published a guide breaking down where you can find these luxurious water vehicles in the world. There are over 20 locations to choose from, depending on where you land on the map. But why do you have to limit yourself to merely driving on the water? You can take these things on land.

This quick guide breaks down how you can take boats on land, in case you feel like driving around. But be aware — there’s a price to pay in the process.

Getting Your Boat On Land

To drive your boat onto a land surface, look for a spot where you can drive off the water into the area. It’ll need to be a decent incline because otherwise, you’ll just hit something and stop in your tracks. However, if you find the right spot, you can drive up and scoot your way across the surface, with the attached rocket launcher in tow. Now that’s how you enter a Battle Royale fight!

What’s more, you can use your boat’s booster to speed ahead. You’ll go pretty slow driving a boat on land, but activate these boosts, and you’ll pick up in speed quite a bit! Save it for when you need it, though, like when you want to help out a teammate.

Driving a boat on land is pretty rad. However, you’ll need to keep an eye on something.

Watch Your Damage

You’re not supposed to drive the boat on land. I mean, if it was, wouldn’t we all be driving them? Well, not during the winter.

If you choose to be a landlubber with your water vehicle in Fortnite, that’s fine and dandy. However, since it’s not a land vehicle, it’s going to take damage. There’s a total of one damage per second while you’re driving on land, and eventually, it will wear out and explode. Make the most of your ride for you and your friends, get where you need to go, and then get out before it blows up.

Keep in mind if you do lose a boat in the game, there are still more than enough to go around. Just visit one of the locations highlighted in our previous guide, and you can get back to land driving. Because, you know, you’re in a boat.

Happy sailing. Fortnite‘s Chapter 2 update is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
