The Clear the Mold side quest in Control AWE is one of the optional tasks given to you by resident janitor Ahti. Like the Darkness and plant missions, you don’t have to beat them to finish the game, but you will miss out on rewards if you decide against completing them.
There is one mold area in three sections of the Investigations Sector. They can be tricky to find if you don’t head off the beaten path, though, so you will need our help if you can’t locate them yourself.
To complete this side mission, you must destroy the eight mold pods in each mold-infested area. All eight pods are located in the same room, too, so you won’t have to traverse a large area to find them all.
Service Tunnel
You can access the Service Tunnel from the Abandoned Offices. Follow the signpost for this area and, once you walk through its double doors, levitate up onto the platform above. It has a yellow cloth draped over it, so you know this is the right area.
Look to your left, and you will see two barriers in front of a doorway with blue frosting on the floor. Head inside to find the first mold area. Use Launch or your Service Weapon to destroy the pods.
AWE Loading Bay
From this area’s Control Point, walk through the double doors and head into the loading bag. Look for a giant pipe that runs away from the massive hold in the center of the room. Head into the pipe and follow it until you see a room on your left hidden behind a panel. Use Launch to pull the panel off. Head inside, turn right, and follow the path to the next mold infestation.
A/C Systems
From the Turntable Control Point, head into the Turntable room and levitate up to an office above you. Head through the Utility Corridor until you drop down an elevator shaft. Kill the two Mold enemies in the next room. Before you dash through the debris in front of you, head into the room to your right to find the last mold-infested area.
