How to complete the US Army Ranger Operator Mission for Hunter in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War

A bug could get in your way.

Even though he came as part of the base game, Hunter is getting a new Operator Mission in this season of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The mission is called US Army Ranger and will unlock for you once you reach Tier 10 on the battle pass. The mission comprises four objectives for you to tackle, and each one gives you a reward for completing. You will unlock a couple of new skins throughout the mission and Outpost Watch and Infantry.

To see what you have ahead of you, the mission objectives are as follows:

  1. Use Tactical Rifles to get 25 kills. Completing this objective will get you the Rigged to Blow Calling Card and 1,500 XP.
  2. Kill five enemies that have been blinded by your Flash Grenades. Completing this objective will get you the Outpost Watch skin and 2,000 XP.
  3. Get 15 kills while using the Flak Jacket perk. Completing this objective will get you the Control the Masses emblem and 2,500 XP.
  4. Use a “Strike” scorestreaks or killstreaks to get five kills. Completing this objective will get you the Infantry skin and 3,000 XP.

To make this mission easier for yourself, follow our tips:

Use the M16 for the Tactical Rifle objective. It has always been a fan-favorite ever since the days of Call of Duty 4, and with good reason. It’s a burst-fire rifle that has good accuracy and solid damage output. Its recoil pattern can take some getting used to, but once you do, it an absolute monster of a gun.

Equip the Danger Close Wildcard so that you will pack an extra Flashbang with you. This objective was one of the trickier ones for us to complete. We know that many players will be using the Tac Mask, which will negate your Flash Grenade but just keep at it. Having an extra grenade in your inventory will certainly help this.

Unfortunately, the Flashbang objective has been reported as bugged for some players. We are not aware of any fixes for this bug, but we recommend trying to restart the game to get it to fix itself. Sometimes, it may work. If not, then you may need to just keep trying or wait for a fix to come.

Flak Jacket is a very easy perk to get kills with, as it’s a very passive effect. It will just decrease the damage of grenades and Molotovs, so it won’t change anything in terms of your own damage output.

The last objective has been reported as bugged for many players, but that isn’t the case. You see, you have to use one of the Scorestreaks or Killstreaks with the word “Strike” in it. That means the Artillery Strike or Napalm Strike. These are the two streaks to go for when completing this objective.
