How to do the October Limited Research timed research tasks and rewards in Pokémon Go

You have an extremely limited time to do this event. Act fast.

On a single day in October for Pokémon Go players, you have an extremely limited chance to capture an Alolan Meowth. The event will happen on October 10 from 8 AM to 10 PM in your local timezone. During the event, there will be a variety of exclusive Field Research tasks you can complete that reward you with being able to encounter a Meowth from the Kanto, Alola, and the Galar region. You can receive these tasks by spinning Poké Stop and Gym discs. Make sure to have enough room to receive them when you arrive at the location.

On top of that 14-hour event, there will also be an exclusive Timed Research available to everyone. You likely have access to the Timed Research at the start of the event and have until 10 PM to complete it. The rewards will probably be Stardust, Poké Balls, and Meowth encounters.
