When you spend Tuning Points in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, you’re investing in a stronger vehicle as soon as you begin your Tours. Theoretically, this gives you a ride that’s easier to handle, much faster, and even more maneuverable, so you have a better shot at surviving tougher tracks. But just because you’ve spent Tuning Points doesn’t mean you’re going to get the “perfect” vehicle right off the bat. And this is even more apparent when you count in your playstyle or your preferred build.
Not to mention, you only get to spend Tuning Points to get your vehicle to Level 15. This means 15 bars out of the potential 42 you could fill out across a whole stats spread. With 15 bars determining your starting build, just what should be your approach to Tuning Point expenditure?
Focus your points instead of spreading them

You only ever get to fill out 15 slots of 42 bars across the entirety of your vehicle’s stats spread. This means you either get a “well-rounded” ride or a hyper-focused vehicle. But considering the high-risk Tour Events of Galactic Racer, you’re really better off focusing on just a couple of specific stats.
Remember, Tour Events give you temporary upgrades anyway, so there’s no reason to even things out. Ideally, the stats to focus on should be based on whatever build you’re running. So don’t insist on increasing Ramjet when you’ve already set yourself up for an Afterburner-aligned kit.
Spread them then focus along the way

We did mention hyper-focusing instead of spreading your points, but you can always try this alternative. Since Tuning Points are permanent upgrades in your Galactic Racer gameplay, averaging things out does give you a more well-rounded “starting vehicle,” so to speak. The idea here is that since you only ever really control your Racer Style and starting Favors, there’s no way to predict what sort of build you’ll end up with.
So what better way to adapt than to make sure your stats are spread well enough that the temporary upgrades just go to where your strengths lie during that run? If you do follow this path, you’re going to end up with a “jack of all trades” type of vehicle. And as you know, these types tend to be “masters of none,” so you have to decide on your build soon.
Ramjet and Afterburner always go first

Regardless of what type of Galactic Racer build you want to achieve, always remember to allocate points to your Ramjet and your Afterburner first. Order only matters if your build is specifically geared towards either of them.
The point is that Galactic Racer Tour Events are all about speed. And while there are indeed Abilities that impede your opponent’s progress, increasing and maintaining your speed is what’s paramount. These two boosts are your surefire way of getting ahead, so prioritize these all the time.
Resilience is only important if you can’t turn properly

Among the stats in the game, Resilience is your best defense against Crashes. In a game where you only get a limited number of Crashes per race, improving your vehicle’s durability can go a long way. But Resilience is only really important if you’re having trouble with your corners.
As it stands, the Shield Ability can do a better job protecting you from Crashes and Malfunctions compared to Resilience. The better stat investment would be for your chosen vehicle’s special maneuver, as it can help you take safer turns.
Just stay on top of speed you can control

One interesting tidbit about Tuning Points is that your Speed will always increase as long as you spend them. But one racing element that Galactic Race got from other racers is the fact that going faster means making your ride harder to control. And there’s no use for a vehicle with max stats if all that is happening is you end up Crashing.
As you reach your vehicle’s top stats, determine whether you’re satisfied with the top Speed you’re getting or if you’re willing to push the boundaries. If you’re already Crashing at this rate, consider respeccing or holding off on maxxing out your points.
