Faulty Parts in Star Wars: Galactic Racer become more commonplace as your vehicle takes the brunt of hits and System Malfunctions throughout matches. Most of the time, you’d want to repair these Faulty Parts, as their setbacks are extremely inconvenient to deal with. However, try to watch out for certain debuffs in Faulty Parts, as they might just be the perfect addition to specific builds.
Weakened Cockpit

| Drawback | Pair with |
|---|---|
| On impact, become Concussed (blurry vision, difficult steering) | Impact Regulator (Part, Concussed clears fast, then a big Speed boost) Jolted Boost (Part, grants Surging after Concussed) |
Anything that hinders your steering can send you straight into a wall, which is what makes the Concussed status so dangerous in Galactic Racer gameplay. Weakened Cockpit makes this condition worse, as now even an impact that doesn’t cause you to Crash will punish you with a bricked vehicle.
If you ever get this Fault, you should try to locate Parts that provide benefits when you do get Concussed. Jolted Boost grants you faster acceleration whenever this happens, but Impact Regulator is more useful since it clears Concussed quickly and gives you a speed boost. If you get this pairing, it’s like the game is just inviting you to get hit. Even if you get Concussed on turns, the right cornering can help you recover just as fast.
Flammable Manifold

| DRAWBACK | PAIR WITH | BUILD WITH |
|---|---|---|
| When Redlining, become Burning for 10s. | Burning Ramjet (Ramjet 3x stronger while Burning) Redlining Power (Ramjet 2x stronger while Redlining) Afterburner Thermalizer (Afterburner 2x stronger while Burning) | Early Warning (Redliner Trait, double the Redlining Zone) Ramjet Power (Redliner Trait, boost Ramjet output while redlining) Vent (Ability, reduce Ramjet heat, get Cooled) |
The hotter your vehicle gets, the shorter its Ramjet spurts in Galactic Racer gameplay. This makes redlining extra dangerous, as Burning also shortens its safe zone. So imagine the way Flammable Manifold practically turns redlining into a ticking time bomb, as that 10s of Burning during redlining can be enough to cause a fatal Crash. But scary as that might sound, there are actually a lot of Galactic Racer tricks to use this to your advantage.
For example, that 10s of Burning is only scary if your Redlining Zone is short. But with the Redliner Racer Style, you can double (or even triple) that redlining area. If you have Vent (Ability), you can forcibly cool down the Ramjet.
There are Parts that triple your Ramjet output while burning (Burning Ramjet) or double it while redlining (Redlining Power). And if you have to use your Afterburner afterwards, you get twice the power while Burning (Afterburner Thermalizer).
Ignited Fuel

| Drawback | pair with | BUILD WITH |
|---|---|---|
| Upon emptying Afterburner tank, become Burning for 20s | Afterburner Thermalizer (Part, Afterburner 2x stronger while Burning) Thermal Inverter (Part, grants Overcharged while Burning) | Vent (Ability, reduce Ramjet heat, get Cooled) Flame Vent (Ability, Vent but also emit Burning and System Malfunction to opponents) Optimal Heatsinks (Ramjet Rider Trait, boosts the potency of Cooled) Heat Recycler (Firebug Trait, get Afterburner and Ramjet boost while Burning) |
Think of Ignited Fuel as kitting your Galactic Racer vehicle with prototype fuel. In your gameplay, that 20 seconds of Burning status is annoying, as it doesn’t give you a lot of openings to use your Ramjet. Chances are you’d still be Burning when you use your next Afterburner, so might as well give it more power (Afterburner Thermalizer) or help get you access to more Abilities (Thermal Inverter).
If cooling down is the priority, Ramjet Rider Racer Style gets you there the fastest since its Optimal Heatsinks vastly improve Cooled, therefore the Vent Ability becomes a more reliable out.
You can capitalize on that Burning with the Firebug Racer Style. Its Heat Recycler gives you a massive Afterburner and Ramjet boost while Burning, and you can pair it with Flame Vent to cool you down quickly. It’s essentially Vent, but it also inflicts Burning and System Malfunction on anyone nearby, giving you that aggressive advantage.
Incendiary Overcharge

| Drawback | pair with | build with |
|---|---|---|
| While Overcharged (get more Energy, Abilities recharge faster), become Burning | Thermal Inverter (grants Overcharged while Burning) Burning Ramjet (Ramjet 3x stronger while Burning) Overcharged Supercharger (grants Surging while Overcharged) | Optimized Reserves (Tech Expert Trait, get 30s Overcharged on 0 Energy) |
When you use your Galactic Racer Abilities correctly, you can secure some of the biggest advantages in the race. This is why certain builds let you proc Abilities as often as possible, and usually by triggering the Overcharged status. With Incendiary Overcharge, keeping Overcharged also gets you Burning. So if you want to Ramjet after disrupting your opponent, you can do it for a much shorter time. But with the right build, this can actually become a well-balanced kit.
Key to this is the Tech Expert Racer Style, which gives you Optimized Reserves on Rank that gives you 30s Overcharged when you reach 0 Energy. You might be Burning, but you have access to your race-defining Abilities.
This becomes more apparent with Thermal Inverter that gives back Overcharged while Burning, practically stacking both effects. Add Overcharged Supercharger into the mix and Overcharged also gets you Surging, giving you an acceleration boost. You can top this with Burning Ramjet that triples Ramjet strength while Burning, so there’s no need to worry about a shorter Ramjet length.
Frosted Injectors

| Drawback | pairs with | build with |
|---|---|---|
| While using Afterburner, gradually become Frozen | Frozen Finesse (massively raises Speed while Frozen) Superconducting Ramjet (Ramjet 100% stronger while Frozen) |
You might think Burning is probably the best feature of a Faulty Part given how flexible their builds can get in Galactic Racer Tours. But Frosted Injectors might say otherwise, as you can use this Faulty Part to awaken one of the more niche strategies in Galactic Racer: semi-unlimited Ramjet. With this Faulty Part, using Afterburner now Cools you down until you get Frozen. This locks your steering, which can be potentially fatal when facing turns.
But that’s generally it. Since Frozen is built over time, you can switch to Ramjet before you hit Frozen. Then cooldown the Ramjet with the Afterburner as soon as you hit the redline. When you do hit Frozen, you can Ramjet and control your corners with maneuvering.
You can even pair it with Parts that gives you more perks even if you get Frozen, especially those that raises speed (Frozen Finesse) and doubles Ramjet strength (Superconducting Ramjet) while Frozen.
Frequently Asked Questions about must-try Faulty Parts in Galactic Racer
How often do I get a Faulty Part?
Unless you deliberately buy a Faulty Part, you can only get them if you damage your vehicle through Crashes or System Malfunctions.
Do Faulty Parts carry over in other planets of the Tour?
Yes. The only way for them to disappear is if you get to a Scrap Dealer node or if you visit them in the next planet. Otherwise, the Faulty Parts will stay with you until the end of the Tour.
