Several months ago, Bungie introduced the concept of Masterwork weapons and armor to Destiny 2. Once you have met the Spider, the Fallen vendor located in the Tangled Shore, after completing the High Plains Blues mission in Forsaken, you’ll see that he is offering several Materials in exchange for various currency. Not only can Guardians purchase Glimmer, Legendary Shards, and a rotating assortment of Planetary Materials from the Spider, but they may also buy Masterwork Cores.

The cost for one Masterwork Core starts 10 Legendary Shards and goes up from there. While this is not necessarily cheap, it is indeed a lot easier to obtain Legendary Shards in Destiny 2 than it is to find Masterwork gear.

Guardians should also note that the entire process of upgrading weapons and armor to Masterwork class has changed in Destiny 2: Forsaken as the upgrades now come in several tiers, with only the higher levels requiring Masterwork Cores.

Regardless of your need to upgrade weapons and armor, it seems like it is wise to be on the Spider’s good side, as he offers many Wanted Bounties and other rewards to Guardians. Be sure to check out our Destiny 2 Guide Hub for more information.
