How to place a Survival Tent in Fallout 76

Your C.A.M.P. away from C.A.M.P.

The Survival Tent is a tool that you can use in Fallout 76 that is similar to your C.A.M.P. Think of this item as a more mobile version of your C.A.M.P. that you can place for free anywhere across the wasteland (with some restrictions). The Survival Tent comes with the basic necessities for wasteland survival like a scrapbox to harbor your unwanted junk, a stash box to hold onto your items, and a tinker’s workbench to craft ammo with. You can even use the convenient sleeping bag to get a good night’s rest. The only problem is you need to figure out how to set this miniature camp up.

Unfortunately, you aren’t just handed the Survival Tent when you boot up Fallout 76. To obtain this useful item, you will need to become a Fallout 1st member. This is the monthly subscription service that you can sign up for that comes with a whole list of bonus items to benefit you in the wastelands of Appalachia. After subscribing to Fallout 1st, you will automatically be given the Survival Tent. You can get additional Survival Tents from the Atomic Shop. While some of them cost Atoms, Bethesda has given out the occasional free Survival Tent, so keep your eyes peeled for future ones.

Now that you have your Survival Tent, you will need to place it. There are some restrictions. First, you can’t place the Survival Tent within a certain distance of your C.A.M.P. Since it is free to fast travel to your Survival Tent, you will want to place it in a different location anyway. Second, you can’t make your Survival Tent intersect with existing objects. This can include trees and cars that don’t normally disappear when you place something on them.

With the rules out of the way, placing your Survival Tent is as simple as opening your favorites wheel. On console, this is done by pressing up on the D-Pad. On PC, you can access the favorites menu by pressing the F key. Once the menu is pulled up, press the triangle button on PlayStation, the Y button on Xbox, and Space Bar if you are on PC. You will see that the outline of the Survival Tent will be red if it is in an area where it cannot be placed.
