Brutal Swing is a complicated move in Pokémon Go. It’s a Dark-type attack that you can use as a charged move, making it a strong choice to select for your Pokémon. There are multiple Dark-type charged moves for you to pick from, and when trying to figure out what charged moves to choose for your Pokémon, you need to make clear and definitive choices. In this guide, we detail if Brutal Swing is good in Pokémon Go and if you should teach it to a Pokémon.
All Brutal Swing stats
Brutal Swing is a Dark-type charged move. You will only be able to use it in Pokémon battle after your Pokémon has used its fast move enough to generate enough energy to use it. You might miss out on the chance to use it during a fight if your Pokémon doesn’t have a fast move that can gather energy quickly in a battle. These are all of the PvP and PvE stats for Brutal Swing.
- PvP
- Power: 65
- Energy: 40
- PvE
- Power: 65
- Energy: 33
Brutal Swing’s only change between PvP and PvE is the energy difference. It doesn’t cost as much energy to use during a raid or while fighting against Team Rocket, but as a PvP Dark-type move, it doesn’t demand a massive reserve of energy. The attack is one of the cheaper Dark-type moves, with the only faster one being Night Slash, but it does 50 damage, 15 less than Brutal Swing.

Should you get Brutal Swing?
Given these stats and comparing it to other Dark-type charged moves, we believe Brutal Swing is a worthwhile option for you to teach a Pokémon. When it debuts during Deino’s June 2022 Community Day, only Hydreigon will be able to use the attack, but it will expand to other Pokémon in the future. We highly recommend going out of your way to add it to a Pokémon’s moveset, but the answer could vary based on the other choices available.
