Legendary event skins and Heirloom Shards

The cheapest way to get Heirloom Shards and the entire Anniversary Collection in Apex Legends

Save more than half of your money with this set of little-known tricks.

It’s the Apex Legends Anniversary Collection Event, and with another Collection Event comes another set of 24 extremely coveted Legendary and Epic Legend skins and weapon skins that you’d love to have to your name. As a bonus, this event also includes a prize of 150 Heirloom Shards, rather than an individual Heirloom, for owning the complete collection. That said, Apex Legends is a free-to-play game, so the extra cosmetics don’t come cheap, or do they?

Buying every single Event Pack and claiming your 150 Heirloom Shards for the standard 700 Apex Coins is 16,800 Apex Coins. That is a lot of premium currency and equates to roughly $150, even when purchased through the most convenient Apex Coin bundles, but what if there was a better way? Here the cheapest way to buy out the entire Anniversary Collection Event.

Buying Out the Collection, Step-by-Step

Overall, buying out the collection this way will save you more than half of the money you would have been spending. However, this still involves a premium purchase. You will need to put premium currency into this transaction, and if you do not have enough, you will have to spend real money to add more Apex Coins to your account.

Note: You MUST do these steps in the order listed. Otherwise, it will not work.

1. Crafting Metals are for Epic Skins

Epic skin costs

For the Anniversary Collection Event, crafting metal costs were cut in half. This means that Legendary skins cost the standard, non-event price of 1,200 crafting metals, but we don’t care about that. What we care about is that the epic Legend and weapon skins only cost 400 crafting metals each. This is much of a lower in-game value than any of the Legendary counterparts, so we will take luck out of the system when it comes to packs and buy all 12 Epic skins upfront. This includes both the Legend skins and the weapon skins. This will cost 4,800 crafting metals and guarantee any Event Packs purchased going forward will have Legendary loot inside of them.

More expensive, but still thrifty alternative

If you do not have even crafting metals to finish step 1, buy exactly 4 less of these skins and buy the Blood Moon 3-Pack Bundle for 2,500 Apex Coins instead (though beware: this runs a 1 in 16 risk of getting Lifeline’s skin, which may mess up the next step). DO NOT buy the Mecha Over Matter Bundle or the Hunt and Run Bundle. They are not cost-effective and will cost you more than just buying a pack in the long run. This method costs 2,500 Apex Coins and 3,200 Crafting Metals. For purchasing premium currency at the best rate, see step 2. If you have under 3,200 Crafting Metals, you will have to buy more individual Event Packs.

2. Pure Fire 7-Pack Bundle

The Pure Fire 7-Pack Bundle is the best bundle in the store because it is the same as buying 7 packs and then getting the Lifeline Hell Raiser Legendary skin for only 100 Apex Coins. This is the cheapest you will ever get a single Legendary item in the event or anywhere. You must do this after step one because if you don’t, you have a chance of getting Epic items instead of Legendary items. You must buy this after clearing out all 12 Legendary items (or the 8 you chose in the alternative method) to ensure that you are getting the best value for your buck.

If you do not have the Apex Coins to make this purchase already, the best bundle to buy to do this method is the 6,700 Apex Coin bundle, which costs $60. The left-over coins will also be enough to complete step 3.

Note: In the alternative method, the best Apex Coin bundle to purchase is the 11,500 Apex Coin pack, which costs $100. You will need to buy this bundle to cover the costs of the Pure Fire 7-Pack Bundle, Blood Moon 3-Pack Bundle, and the 2 standalone Event Packs that you will buy in Step 3.

3. Buy 2 (not 4) Event Packs

At this point, if you have done everything correctly, you should own 20 out of 24 Anniversary Collection Event Packs, with 4 unowned Legendary-tier Legend skins. Below is an image of what your screen may look like at this point; though any Legends leftover is fine, it doesn’t need to be these four.

Once you have done this correctly, now is the time to leave the bundles and crafting metals behind. You are going to buy some Event packs the old-fashioned way. You will buy 2 Event Packs from the collection screen for 700 Apex Coins each. Now, you only want to buy 2 of them, not all four. This is important

4. Earn your last 2 Event Packs for Free

The final 2 Event Packs can be rewarded to you via a non-premium in-game means. There are 2 Event Packs on the Prize Tracker for the Anniversary Collection Event. What you need to do to get your last two packs is get 5,000 Event Points before the event ends on February 23. One Event Pack is unlocked at 3,000 Event Points, and the other is unlocked at the formerly mentioned 5,000 Event Points.

You earn Event Points by doing daily event challenges such as just logging in to play a game, dealing a certain amount of damage, and getting a certain amount of top 10 finishes each day. The most Event Points you can earn in a day is 1,000, meaning it will take at least five days to earn your final Event Pack.

Once you have done this, the full collection will be yours! But that’s not all…

5. Claiming Your Heirloom Shards

Upon getting your final Event Pack, both methods will grant you the coveted 150 Heirloom Shards, as seen above. These you can either spend right away on an Heirloom of your choice in the Heirloom store, or you can save them for a rainy day. We will definitely be holding on to ours until an Heirloom we can’t refuse drops into the store.

Recap

In total, this method will cost you 6,400 premium currency and 4,800 in-game crafting metals. (The Alternative Method will cost 8,900 premium currency and 3,200 in-game crafting metals) Meaning using your stash of crafting materials and all of our other tips and tricks can not only save you over 10,000 premium currency but also let you take 150 heirloom shards and the entire Anniversary Event collection home without breaking the bank. This is what we did, and we had to share it with all of you. Enjoy!
