Battlefield V is not including a battle royale mode and, also considering what Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is doing with the Blackout mode later this year, this was a bit surprising for many of the fans of the shooter series.

Anyway, as a previous report hinted, there could be the chance that the mode could be coming at a later stage of the process, once the game has shipped and as part of the ongoing content support for it.

Battlefield V Battle Royale Mode

Senior producer Andreas Morrel has somehow hinted at that, too, during a recent interview where he claimed that everyone at DICE is a fan of the battle royale titles now on the market and that something like this could be “a natural fit” for the franchise.

“It’s hard to miss the battle royale frenzy that’s ongoing. We’re all very much fans of it, back at DICE, and we’re definitely looking to see how Battlefield can explore the Battle Royale genre,” Morrel said.

“For the world that Battlefield has created, we’ve got the sandbox, we’ve got the vehicles, we’ve got the epic scale–it is a natural fit for us.”

So, it’s not likely that something as big as a battle royale mode could be coming in a few months from the launch, but what about a 2019 release? The dev team could’ve enough time to deliver something at least on par with Black Ops 4 by that time.

Anyway, Battlefield V is releasing on October 16 on PC, PS4 and Xbox One, and we’ll learn more about it at the upcoming EA Play event at E3.
